R-CAN has a presence in over 10 remote villages of South Sudan with a population of 12million people. For the development of these remote villages, R-CAN Healthcare team has three programs – Education, (Health and Hygiene) and Economic development. At this time all activities have been diverted towards the fight against floods caused diseases.
R-CAN's Healthcare program consists of Prevention and Control of the pandemic, and patient-physician contact via Telemedicine.
Promote physical exercise
Diagnostic- Village volunteers to be equipped with digital Oximeters and Thermometers. An estimated quantity of 15,000/ each is targeted at this time. Depending upon the results, the next step is Telemedicine or the transfer of patients
Telemedicine – Helpdesk and Call Centre. This service has been established in collaboration with ministry of health call centres are planned in various regional languages throughout South Sudan. Close to 15 doctors have registered as volunteers to staff the helpdesk.
Anemia is the world’s second leading cause of illness and South Sudan is among the countries with one of the highest prevalence (70%-80%) of Anemia. It is estimated that about 20%-40% of maternal deaths in India are due to Anemia. The alarming number of women suffering from Anemia in rural India is 86.5%, inspired us to start a program to control Anemia in R-CAN Villages. R-CAN aims to reduce the prevalence of Anemia in rural villages of South Sudan.
