About R-CAN SOUTH SUDAN

R-CAN  South Sudan is a registered national non-governmental organization engaged in the education of youth, women, farmers and people with disabilities in South Sudan. It is the largest grassroots movement of its kind in the world. R-CAN has zero administrative cost. This means 100% of the proceeds from your donations go towards R-CAN’s programs.

R-CAN’s mission is the holistic development of youths and villagers through basic education, digital literacy, skill development, health awareness, modern sustainable agricultural practices and rural entrepreneurship. The vision of R-CAN RSV (single mentor RSV Institute) is to facilitate the process of empowering communities based on the concept of social, economic and gender equality.

The R-CAN RSV institute aims to eradicate illiteracy from tribal areas of South Sudan through rural development based on the criteria of equality, diversity and inclusion across all sections of society.

Who We Are

R-CAN was registered as Central Equatoria State based NNGO in 2024 and the NNGO status was obtained a year later under the leadership of Mr. Gabriel Ayuen Mabior. 

The purpose of the R-CAN RSV institutet is all-round development in rural areas, primarily in Juba and neigboring states of Jonglei and EES parts of South Sudan and the developing neighboring countries such as Uganda in the future. The main focus is on voacational education. It is the largest national non-government organization engaged in the education of the poorest of the poor in South Sudan. Along with education, primary health  and economic development are receiving considerable attention.

Most  villages are very remote and generally do not have easy access to medical facilities. A large R-CAN healthcare team works hard to prevent and control the pandemic in these villages in rural South Sudan by sensitizing the local communities.

Syllabus

The curriculum consists of Languages, Mathematics, General Education, Science, Storytelling, Basic Healthcare, Handicrafts, and Physical Education.

Teachers salary (honorarium) 60%; Teacher training 25%; Teaching material 6%; Regional operating expense 4%; Administrative expenses 5%.

Teachers

Teachers are invariably from the same village to ensure effect, preserve stability and maintain effectiveness. There are periodic programmes of training for teachers and other volunteers forming management network at all levels: junior, middle and senior.
